Taekwondo, as well as martial arts in general,  is a lifelong journey. CHAMPION TAEKWONDO teaches its students valuable skills that he or she will carry with themselves throughout their entire life. In addition to learning physical skills such as kicking, punching , and blocking, Taekwondo teaches important life skills such as confidence, focus, self-disciple, honor, and respect. The Five Tenets of Taekwondo are globally recognized as COURTESY, INTEGRITY, PERSEVERANCE, SELF-CONTROL, and INDOMITABLE SPIRIT.

CHAMPION TAEKWONDO focuses on the teachings of traditional Taekwondo and Hapkido, as taught by Instructor Joshua P. Holmes. At age 9, Instructor Holmes began learning Taekwondo from Grand Master Sun Du Hwang and eventually earned his 1st dan black belt in 1999 from Grand Master Han S. Kwak, as certified by Master's Martial Arts Alliance. Instructor Holmes earned his 2nd dan black belt from Corral's Martial Arts in 2023. In 2025, Instructor Holmes earned his 3rd dan black belt from Grandmaster Ken Young, as certified by the United World Taekwondo Association.

In 2024, Instructor Holmes decided to start his own program called CHAMPION TAEKWONDO with the goal of sharing the life-long skills, lessons, and joy that Taekwondo has brought to his own life. In addition to learning fundamentals such as kicks, strikes, blocks, and forms, CHAMPION TAEKWONDO teaches its students how to apply their techniques using both traditional and practical methods. Once a student gains the necessary experience as determined by an instructor, they will be approved to participate in controlled sparring matches using the proper safety gear and protocols. Although learning proper self-defense is an intricate part of this program, CHAMPION TAEKWONDO is a non-competition school. Our philosophy rather focuses on a student's preparedness in the event he or she will ever need to use martial arts.

CHAMPION TAEKWONDO utilizes a 12 belt system for its KIDS (ages 7-12) and TEEN/ADULT (ages 13 & up) programs that includes the following belt colors: white, yellow, orange, purple, green, blue, brown, brown/red stripe, red, red/black stripe, temporary black, and black. For its LITTLE TIGERS program (ages 4-6), CHAMPION TAEKWONDO utilizes a 6 belt system.

CHAMPION TAEKWONDO will honor a new student's rank from previous programs. We teach Taegeuk Forms, as recognized internationally by WORLD TAEKWONDO (formally WORLD TAEKWONDO FEDERATION) as the standard Taekwondo curriculum. For each belt rank, a student will learn a form, as well as a series or techniques including kicks, strikes, blocks, stances, and sparring (both one step and open). Additionally, students will learn supplemental Hapkido techniques as selected by the instructor. Once an instructor decides that a student is ready to promote, he or she will undergo a thorough test in order to earn their next rank. Each test includes a demonstration of the student's form, all techniques at their current rank, as well as all forms and techniques at previous ranks. The test will conclude with a single or multiple board break depending on rank.
